Martinstown “While Shepherds Watched”
A well known carol: “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night”, but to a tune you may not have met before, collected in the Dorset village of Martinstown around 1835. Like “At Dawn” this was recorded by the individual singers and players and put together by our very talented conductor, Phil Humphries.
At Dawn
2020 saw us unable to meet, as we were in lockdown for the Coronavirus issue. We still managed to record a track, by each of us recording our parts at home, and sending it to Phil, our conductor, who must have worked very hard to pull it all together.
Some individual songs/tunes recorded in the past:
A song especially written by Tim Laycock and arranged by Phil Humphries to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Dorset County Hospital: The Founders’ Song.
The Humstrum This starts with Tim Laycock explaining this weird instrument, and Phil then proceeds to play it.
While Shepherds Watched: an arrangement collected from Martinstown.
